Student Dormitory Dubrovnik

At the beginning of 2021, an entirely newly built student dormitory was opened in Dubrovnik. The Student Dormitory Dubrovnik construction project is worth a total of HRK 216 million and was co-financed within the operational plan “Competitiveness and Cohesion” with HRK 151 million in EU grants. In addition to European funds, the construction of the student dormitory was co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Education, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the City of Dubrovnik, the University of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Student Center. Construction work began in 2018 and was completed in 2020. INSTITUT IGH, JSC contributed to the project by providing the services of technical supervision over the construction and equipping of the Student Dormitory and safety at work coordinator (II). With the completion of this project, INSTITUT IGH, JSC can add Student Dormitory Dubrovnik to the list of successfully completed projects in the building construction sector.

Before the dormitory construction, Dubrovnik students had to deal with the lack of accommodation capacity in Dubrovnik, high accommodation prices and the loss of accommodation before the tourist season. The construction of the Student Dormitory was, therefore, long-awaited. Now, the University of Dubrovnik has available capacity for 503 students in 249 double and five single rooms. Of these, 290 places are secured for students in an unfavourable socioeconomic position and five rooms for students with disabilities. Students have at their disposal a restaurant and a kitchen that can serve 2,000 meals a day. The student dormitory has numerous facilities that complement the quality of student life in Dubrovnik, such as reception, kitchenette, student restaurant, common study areas, laundry, fitness centre, multipurpose hall and underground garage.
