Inspired by the upcoming wave of investment in Croatian transport infrastructure, from railway and road transport to airports, seaports and river ports, the organizers of Zagreb Infrastructure Summit gathered a large number of key participants in this process on Tuesday, 21 May 2019 (http://zagrebinfrasummit.com/). The conference was opened by Liu Kai, economic advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Croatia, who emphasised the importance of the Pelješac Bridge project for China, in terms of experience in works executed according to European regulations. On the Pelješac Bridge construction project, Institut IGH was engaged for the services of technical supervision, quality control and laboratory services and is therefore of exceptional importance for all stakeholders.

Nebojša Opačić, Head of IGH's Transport Infrastructure Design Division and colleagues from the partner company Lineal from Slovenia, Iztok Zabreznik, Head of BIM Division and Robert Lesničar, Assistant to the Director, held a presentation on "Implementation of BIM to overcome challenges in complex infrastructural projects".
In order to raise awareness on the need to transfer to BIM technology and share actual experiences gained on implemented infrastructural projects, the speakers indicated the key advantages of using Building Information Modelling systems, not only for designers but primarily for clients, and all other users: from the beginning of design development (visualisation of design solutions from early phases of design, greater precision of designs, earlier harmonizing and corrections), through construction itself (precise determination of quantities, reduction of costs, increased productivity) to later maintenance of the structure in the phase of use.
